Happy Father’s Day!

In honor of Father’s Day, I’ve posted this highly flattering video of my sweet husband. He is such a lucky dad. In case you can’t tell, that’s a worm in the bug-catcher, and yes, Bart squeals like a little girl at the end (no worms were harmed in the making of this film). Don’t worry, I have no intention of posting to the blog every day. Our family vacation comes to a close today, so I’ll go back to sporadically posting random Zoe stories from here on out… Until then:

The Johnson Family rocks. Seriously. After a fun day last Friday where Zoe, Ruth and I went on a stroll while Bart and his dad poured concrete (who got the best of that deal?), we went to an awesome graduation party for Bart’s cousin, Riley, who just graduated from high school. It was incredible! Catering, booze, and a live band. Oh, and Zoe was BELLE of the Ball.

It’s like being roadies for Lady Gaga. We feed her, clothe her, change her rose-scented diapers, and drive her to all sorts of locations where she’s greeted by fans who barely acknowledge us (in all fairness, we still get hugs, but every parent will tell you that it’s never with the same gusto as pre-baby).

Honestly, it was fabulous to watch Zoe meet her extended Johnson family for the first time. She was passed around from loving arms to loving arms all evening long – some of those arms belonged to cute little girl cousins who were thrilled to “hold the baby” (see below). And some of those tiny cousins couldn’t have outweighed Zoe by more than 10 pounds, wet, but Zoe loves loves loves little girls. She was a GREAT sport, and for HOURS.

As is usually the case, everyone was shocked by how much she loves people, how much she smiles, and how she can be “out of sight” of mom and dad and still be AOK. She’s a social butterfly already, and we really hope that continues. Only when she gets really tired or really hungry does she express her strong desire for some mom+dad time.

But back to the party. She basically shut down the place and was on the front row with her dad until way past bedtime (see below – and Don, please don’t call Child Protective Services again). I’m saving this photo for her teenage years, when her dad lives to regret teaching her how to party all night on the front row ;)

Speaking of dad, Bart is off enjoying a Father’s Day massage for his FIRST Father’s Day of many! Happy Father’s Day to all you dads out there! Hope you’re enjoying a relaxing day of pampering, love and appreciation.
