You guessed it – last night our daughter slept 7 hours straight!! SEVEN!
I know, I know. Don’t get too excited – apparently this sleep thing is a “one day at a time” sort of adventure. As evidenced by Zoe’s sleep on New Year’s Eve, when she stayed awake until 11:50 pm. Sadly, she missed the countdown, but believe me, during the hours leading up to that sleep, we were counting every minute… And that day led into New Year’s Day, where she fought sleep again for most of the day. Honestly, I was afraid of this new year – though she did sleep on/off during the night on those nights, the days were rough.
We’re super thankful she knows what night-time is, but not so thankful she knows that sleep means she’ll be missing something. Oh, and that she’s so smart she knows all our tricks leading up to sleep. Binky = closed mouth, shaking head. Lying on back cradled in arms = crying. She’s just not a fan of falling to sleep (this she got from her mother, not her “I can nap in the middle of a rock concert” father).
Anyway, back to the good news. SEVEN consecutive hours of SLEEP! And since she just turned 4 months old on New Year’s Day, that’s a pretty cool stat. Cross your fingers that dad can work his magic again tonight :)
aren’t we all zoe…aren’t we all ;)
