Possibly the very BEST first out there – Zoe Smiles!
She’s also cooing and ga-ga-gooing. I’m sure there’s quite a story she’s telling. Too bad we have no idea what she’s saying (but don’t tell her that!) Regardless, it’s super cute to watch, so we’re just enjoying the show.
Honestly, this is the moment we’ve been waiting for: an eyes-wide-open smile that’s absolutely tied to interacting with us (read: clearly not gas-related). I’ll wager that this is the moment lots of parents wait for, and part of what ensures survival of our species – who could be upset about the projectile milk gifts she’s given each of us today when we get to see THIS just minutes later?
Equally exciting were a few more firsts…
- breastfeeding in a public restroom (not recommended except in emergency situations)
- rocking fussy baby to sleep above a running clothes dryer (highly recommended)
- blowing in baby’s face to get her to swallow medicine (recommended with caution – usually works, BUT could lead to projectile milk gift mentioned earlier if baby has full tummy and chokes on medicine…)
Anyway, clearly parenting is all downhill from here for us – she smiles, she smiles, she smiles! And for daddy, that means she can now get away with murder… Wish that poor guy luck!

Exactly! Zoe saves up all her projectile vomiting for Auntie Sharon ;) But I’ll bet she has a smile saved up for when she sees you again, too!
Smiling is the BEST!!!! Is she 6 weeks yet? She’s younger, isn’t she? Clearly, you have a genius on your hands! :-)
She’s 6 weeks and 2 days, so does that mean we’ve got a slowpoke? ;) I’m sticking with your genius assessment – never too early to start fudging her age, right?!
What a beautiful girl! She definitely wins todays baby contest. I can’t wait to see her and her wonderful family again! The last visit keeps me smiling:)
